breastfeeding aids

Breastfeeding aids can provide support

In certain situations, additional aids can provide relief or temporarily make the breastfeeding process easier.

These include, for example:

  • Nipple shields

  • Breast pumps
  • Supplemental Nursing Systems (SNS)

  • Compresses for engorgement

  • Low-level laser therapy for sore nipples

  • Individually fitted breast shields

We will always decide together whether and which aid makes sense – tailored to your specific situation.

Not every aid is necessary in the long term.
Often, a targeted adjustment or correction of the breastfeeding position is enough.

Are you wondering

When does a breast pump make sense?

In certain situations, a professional breast pump can be a valuable support – for example, with premature births, when building up milk supply, or during temporary separation of mother & child. Together, we will clarify whether a breast pump makes sense in your situation.

A breast pump can be used for medical indications, such as:

  • for premature babies

  • for infants with a weak suck

  • for malformations

  • for organic diseases

  • for medically necessary separation of mother and child

  • for sore nipples

  • for engorgement or mastitis

  • for decreased or increased milk production

  • during temporary medical treatment

My support regarding breast pumps

A breast pump is a tool – it does not replace personal support. The goal is not to pump as much as possible – but to find a solution that feels right for you.

I support you with:

  • choosing the right breast shield size
  • correct application
  • building up or regulating milk supply
  • combining breastfeeding and pumping
  • planning for the return to work
  • gradual weaning

Breast pump - rent or buy?

I will support you individually in the selection, use, and adjustment of a suitable breast pump – at home or in my practice in Küssnacht am Rigi.

I am happy to provide transparent information about the current cost structure and the process. According to the List of Pharmaceutical Products and Medical Devices (MiGel, as of 2025), breast pumps are covered by health insurance if there is a medical indication.

Purchase

The following options are available:

  • Manual breast pump

  • Single electric breast pump

  • Double electric breast pump

An accessory set is included with the purchase.

Rental

Electric breast pumps can also be rented.

The rental period is usually a maximum of 8 weeks and can be extended if there is a medical justification.

A separate accessory set is required for rentals.

In the case of a medical indication (e.g., adjustment of the breast shield size), the accessories can be reimbursed again.
